In celebration of Oxnard's International Restaurant Week, I finally decided to try out Moqueca.
Whenever my friends and I are downstairs at Sea Fresh (which is quite often), we always say how we should go upstairs to Moqueca since we always smell what they're cooking. It always smells awesome up there. T came up to join me for this dinner adventure. The food was great, service was on point and had we been there when the sun was still up we would've had an awesome view of the harbor. I'm definitely coming back to try other items. That passion fruit mousse was so good.

We tried the premier dinner

artifacts on the wall

Caipirinhas. I can't believe this was my first time having it. So good

Salada De Palmito. Mix of green leaves, cherry tomatoes, cucumber and hearts of palm, tossed with yogurt dressing. That dressing was to.die.for

Caldo Verde. Brazilian traditional soup made with potatoes, cream collard greens, sausage and bacon

Picanha Grelhada. Brazilian steak grilled and served with white rice, black beans and fried plantains. Our order came with fries

Pave de Bombom. Crumbs of chocolate candy bar with layers of milk flan and chantilly cream

Moqueca de Peixe Com Camarao. Fish and shrimp cooked in a clay pot with onions, tomatoes, cilantro, urucum essence and coconut milk

Mousse de Maracuja. Passion fruit mousse. Seriously the best thing I've ever eaten

The Italian Job Cafe

In celebration of International Restaurant Week, I decided to treat Alena out for dinner. We've both had pretty hectic schedules so we hadn't hung out in a while.
We originally wanted to try Moqueca at the harbor, but it was so busy and the wait was 45 minutes so we ended up here instead. The food was excellent, but the service was not on point. I'm not sure if they were understaffed or they just weren't used to being busy. It was a mess. We waited about 4 minutes to be seated even though about 3 people saw us waiting at the front. When I got my entree, our waitress offered some parmesan cheese, but she never came back. Good thing the food made up for their lack of service.

special menu for international restaurant week

Garrettini: slow braised baby Berkshire pork Ossobucco with Pinette pasta arrabbiata

Mentuccia: Bruschetta topped with fresh tomatoes, basil, garlic and herbs

Cuocopazzo: Fillet of white fish in a horseradish-pistachio crust, with garlic, lemon, fresh tomatoes, white wine sauce served with fresh vegetables

Brasato: braised Italian angus beef pot-roast marinated with red wine, root vegetables, juniper berries, fresh herbs with butternut squash ravioli

Panna Cotta: classic Italian cream flan with chocolate-coconut bread pudding

Mudd-Pie Ice Cream: with coffee ice cream, chocolate and almonds on a fudge-chocolate crust

Sea Fresh

This is about 1/3 of what I ate on that day that I ended up spending 8 hours at a bar.
I love Sea Fresh so much. Great staff, awesome food and always the best patrons.
