Shelly's Big City

My sister is lucky to have a chef for an ex husband (ha)
We had Thanksgiving lunch at the new place he works at
They had a special menu for the holiday
I can honestly say it was the best meal of my life...so far
I'm definitely going to come back to check out the regular menu
The best part is....its always free
Thank You German for the hook up

in keeping with the holiday i decided to have the turkey meal

harvest salad with cranberries and pecan

roasted butternut squash soup

steak....looked weird. caren said it wasn't great so she asked for another dish

i killed that plate. the stuffing had black truffle. it was to die for

california strawberries dipped in chocolate. it made me miss home

take 2 for caren. the salmon was bomb

i kept hydrated. cappuccino, champagne and panna water

pumpkin pie

pecan pie

There were a few others i wasn't able to get a picture of. They kept bringing food out.....none of them would take no for an answer.

Uno (South Street Seaport)

89 South Street New York, 10038
(212) 791-7999

This is my sister's favorite place at South Street Seaport. They're known for their deep dish pizza but we were in the mood for burgers

ginger ale, water, mango/iced tea

view from where we sat. that's Brooklyn on the left side

Uno burger: A 10 oz. burger served on Uno's soft bun with uno sauce, lettuce, tomato, red onions, cheddar cheese and bacon

i can never get used to eating a burger with that much meat. look how thick that is. i die

after our meal we walked down the pier for ice cream and sat to admire the brooklyn bridge

After brunch we walked around the city so Sarah could shop at 5th Avenue
A few hours after her retail therapy we jumped on the 7 and headed to Flushing Meadow to watch the US Open women's final between Clijsters and Zvonareva

it was a great game. Clijsters won after 2 sets

9/11: Saturday was a good day

Azuki Sushi

520 8th Ave
New York, NY

We knew when we started our day that we wanted to end it with sushi
We happened to spot this place on our way back to Port Authority
I'd definitely come back

salmon tasaki...fried on the outside

shrimp tempura

they called it Amazing...eel avocado roll...it was the bomb

2 in 1 Spicy....salmon and tuna

Petrossian

182 West 58th Street
(58th St. at 7th Ave.)
New York, NY 10019

Petrossian restaurant is housed in the historic Alwyn Court Building on Manhattan's West Side. The French-influenced contemporary menu features caviar, smoked fish, and foie gras delicacies for which Petrossian is known throughout the world.

They happened to have a prix-fixe lunch menu so we decided to try that.

We loved the food and the service was fantastic (as well it should be) but we had a Pretty Woman moment when we walked in. I was wearing jeans and a t-shirt as was my cousin Sarah....when we walked in the host did the rudest thing - he looked us up and down. The worst part was he wasn't at all subtle about it. I nearly smacked him. I know the place is where the upper east side folks come to lunch but damn that was just unnecessary.
Loved the place but definitely not coming back

we were the first diners of the day. we came in right after they opened

Sarah's appetizer....smoked salmon. it was delicious...i was in heaven

i decided to have an organic green salad

my entree: braised long island duck leg

Sarah's entree: seared atlantic salmon

Opera Cake housemade ice cream

mine: red fruit mousse raspberry coulis

Lombardi's Pizza

Trivia: Lombardi's was the first pizzeria in the United States. So obviously if there's one place to visit for pizza this would be it

32 Spring St
New York, NY 10012-4173
(212) 941-7994
Corner of Spring and Mott Street
(the number 6 subway line is only a block away)

we had the small pizza with pepperoni and pancetta (it was recommended by our waiter)

they call that a small size....its 4 times as big as Sarah's head

look at all that goodness
